Overview: Home Made Energy is an OK guide. Nothing more.
Written by Bill Ford a scientist and researcher (I was unable to find any reference to these claims, but I'll take his word for now). The instructions for the wind powered turbine are well written and the result was a very professional looking turbine (actually the best looking wind powered generator I created). The problems I found were mostly in the solar panels section. The instructions can get a bit confusing, especially for a novice user and you might need 2 or even 3 tries to end up with a working solar panel generator.
Customer Support: You can expect a quick reply (I received mine within 12 hours). The answers I got were precise and helpful.
What You Get: Very little. Only 43 pages which contain both the Solar & wind turbine information. If you need a lot of background information and super detailed instructions, I would strongly recommend one of my top picks – Earth4Energy or Efficient Planet
Guarantee: The usual 8 weeks, money back guarantee.
Prior Knowledge Required: I suggest you do posses some prior technical knowledge. Because the guide is extremely concise and to the point you might get a tad confused at some parts if you have no prior technical knowledge at all.
Parts Cost: Around $200, the same as most other DIY solar & wind powered renewable energy guides.
My Verdict. Home Made Energy is a no thrill guide. You don't get an extra bonuses or an incredibly detailed set of instructions. The only highlight I can think of in relation to this guide, is the fact the wind turbine simply looks the most professional out of all guides. Beside that, I would easily go with one of my top 2 picks.
